Story 1:Turkish F-16 Shoots Down Russian Su-24 Fighter Bomber: Is The Start of World War I Repeating Itself In The Middle East As The Start of World War III? Repeating The Mistakes Of The Past — Videos

Progress, far from consisting in change, depends on retentiveness. When change is absolute there remains no being to improve and no direction is set for possible improvement: and when experience is not retained, as among savages, infancy is perpetual. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

Obama Comments on Turkey Shooting Down Russian Jet

Obama reacts to the Turkish military shooting down Russian Jet during France President François Hollande visit at the White House Press Conference. Turkey has a right to defend its territory and airspace. Discourage escalation. Russia is going after moderate opposition fighters in Syria, Free Syrian Army FSA. Mistakes would not occur if Putin would not support Assad. Obama says Russia is welcome to fight, but must follow rules. ISIS must be having a great time with this. Islamic Terrorists shot at Russian Pilots as they had ejected out of their jet in their parachutes. Russian President Putin calls Turkey accomplices of terrorists, a Stab in the Back. Turkey says its jets shot at the plane after warning that it was violating Turkish airspace. But Moscow says it never strayed from Syrian airspace. Erdogan is nuts, NATO ally is ushering in WWIII, world on edge in the face of Radical Islam. Putin warned of serious consequences for Moscow’s relations with Turkey. Liberals Failed Middle East foreign policy. Hope Trump is the Replacement for President 2016.

ANGRY PUTIN calls out Turkey as a BACK STABBER and friend of IS

Turkey backstabbed Russia by downing the Russian warplane and acted as accomplices of the terrorists, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
“This incident stands out against the usual fight against terrorism. Our troops are fighting heroically against terrorists, risking their lives. But the loss we suffered today came from a stab in the back delivered by accomplices of the terrorists,” Putin said.

Putin said the plane was hit by a Turkish warplane as it was traveling at an altitude of 6000 meters about a kilometer from the Turkish border. It was hit by an air-to-air missile launched by a Turkish F-16 jet. The crash site is four kilometers from the border. The plane posed no threat to Turkish national security, he stressed.

Putin said the plane was targeting terrorist targets in the Latakia province of Syria, many of whom came from Russia.

Russia has for a long time been aware of oil going from Syria under the control of terrorists to Turkey, Putin said. The money finances terrorist groups.

“IS has big money, hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars, from selling oil. In addition they are protected by the military of an entire nation. One can understand why they are acting so boldly and blatantly. Why they kill people in such atrocious ways. Why they commit terrorist acts across the world, including in the heart of Europe,” the Russian leader said.

The downing of the Russian warplane happened despite Russia signing an agreement with the US to prevent such incidents in Syria, Putin stressed. Turkey claims to be part of the US-led coalition fighting against IS in Syria, he added.

The incident will have grave consequences for Russia’s relations with Turkey, Putin warned.

“We have always treated Turkey as not only a close neighbor, but also as a friendly nation,” he said. “I don’t know who has an interest in what happened today, but we certainly don’t.”

The fact that Turkey did not try to contact Russia in the wake of the incident and rushed to call a NATO meeting instead is worrisome, Putin said. It appears that Turkey want NATO to serve the interests of IS, he added.

Putin said Russia respects the regional interests of other nations, but warned the atrocity committed by Turkey would not go without an answer.

Putin was speaking at a meeting with King of Jordan Abdullah II in Sochi, who expressed his condolences to the Russian leader over the loss of a Russian pilot in Tuesday’s incident, as well as the deaths of Russians in the Islamic State bombing of a passenger plane in Egypt.

The two leaders discussed the anti-terrorist effort in Syria and Iraq and the diplomatic effort to find a political solution to the Syrian conflict.

Earlier a Russian Su-24 bomber was shot down by Turkish fighter jets near the Turkish-Syrian border. Turkey claimed that the plane violated Turkish airspace and did not respond to warnings. Ankara said it was rightfully acting to defend its sovereignty.

Russia insists that the plane stayed in the Syrian airspace.

One of the two pilots of the downed Russian warplane was reported killed by a rebel group as he was parachuting down on the ground after ejecting from the plane. The fate of the second pilot remains unknown.

The Guns of August

he Guns of August is a documentary that follows the book by the same title by author, Barbara Tuchman (1912-1989), an eminent American historian. She received the first of her two Pulitzer prizes for this 1962 masterpiece on World War I. The documentary was made in 1965. Barbara Tuchman was highly respected for her ability to present complex subjects and present them with clarity. Until I read the previous review, I have never heard of anyone accusing her of hating Germany or its people or of her book being anti-German propaganda. But there are pictures of shot civilians and movies of smoldering ruins. Then again, there are people who claim the Holocaust never took place and is just anti-Nazi propaganda… Facts: On August 3 1914, Germany declared war on France. The German invasion plan for France called for an attack through Belgium, instead of through the heavily defended Franco-German border. Belgium was neutral and its neutrality was protected by treaty with Great Britain. The Germans attacked on August 3rd. The next day, August 4th, Great Britain declared war on Germany. Germany warned Belgium that they only wanted to reach France and if Belgium complied, there wouldn’t be any trouble. Despite its small army, Belgium chose to protect its sovereignty and its honor and paid for it. Liège, Aarschot, Andenne, Tamines, Dinant, and Leuven, where the worst of the German depredations occurred.

Russian rescue helicopter ‘shot down by Syrian rebels’ while searching for pilots of plane downed by Turkey

A Russian rescue helicopter has been shot down by Syrian rebels while searching for pilots missing after Turkey downed a Russian jet.

The helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing in a government-held area in Syria’s Latakia province.

A Syrian insurgent group, which uses U.S. Tow missiles, said its fighters hit the helicopter with an anti-tank missile.

Video footage has emerged online appearing to show the helicopter after it crashed in dense woodland.

Plumes of smoke can be seen coming from the aircraft.

Vladmir Putin earlier warned Turkey of “significant consequences” after the Russian plane was shot down.

Video footage was posted online which appeared to show a dead Russian pilot after a jet was shot down by Turkey

The Russian President also said the action by Turkey was a “stab in the back” and said it would have serious consequences for his country’s relations with Turkey.

Turkey claimed it shot down the fighter jet because it violated its airspace.

However, Putin said the jet was shot down in Syria, 4km from the Turkish border.

He told a media conference: “This event is beyond the normal framework of fighting against terrorism.

“Of course our military is doing heroic work against terrorism… But the loss today is a stab in the back, carried out by the accomplices of terrorists.

“….Our aircraft was downed over the territory of Syria, using air-to-air missile from a Turkish F-16.”

A gruesome video appears to show Syrian rebels with a dead pilot from the jet.

A Syrian rebel group has distributed footage which they say shows the pilot.

Two pilots ejected but footage online now appears to show that one of the pilots has died. Sources now claim that the second pilot is also dead.

In the gruesome footage, a voice is heard saying “A Russian pilot.

A voice then adds: “God is great” .

It is not known what has happened to a second pilot who was in the plane.

Turkish military officials say a warplane shot down the jet because it violated its airspace.

The plane exploded in the air causing a huge fireball which fell on the Turkmen mountain on the Syrian side of the border.

Video footage captured in the area shows the jet covered in flames plummeting to the ground.

Russia has since confirmed one of its jets was shot down. Officials in Moscow also say they can prove it was flying in Syrian airspace.

The Russian Su-24 fighter plane was believed to be flying at 6,000 metres.

Russia claim the jet was flying over Syria when it was downed

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement: “We are looking into the circumstances of the crash of the Russian jet.

“The Ministry of Defence would like to stress that the plane was over the Syrian territory throughout the flight.”

A Turkish military statement said the plane entered Turkish airspace over the town of Yayladagi, in Hatay province.

“On November 24 2015 at around 9.20am, a plane whose nationality is not known violated the Turkish airspace despite several warnings (10 times within five minutes) in the area of Yayladagi, Hatary,” the military said before the plane’s nationality was confirmed.

“Two F-16 planes on aerial patrol duty in the area intervened against the plane in question in accordance with the rules of engagement at 9.24am.”

The decision to shoot down the jet was taken directly by the Turkish Prime Minister.

Russian fighter planes have been flying in the area as part of the Russian bombing campaign in Syria.

Turkish officials say the plane was warned 10 times in five minutes before it was eventually shot down.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said the warplane crashed in a mountainous area in the northern countryside of Latakia province.

This is where there had been aerial bombardment earlier and where pro-government forces have been battling insurgents on the ground.

Both Russia and its ally, Syria’s government, have carried out strikes in the area.

A Syrian military source said the reported downing was being investigated.

Footage from private Turkish broadcaster Haberturk TV showed the warplane going down in flames in a woodland area, a long plume of smoke trailing behind it.

The plane went down in area known by Turks as “Turkmen Mountain”, it said.

Separate footage from Turkey’s Anadolu Agency showed two pilots parachuting out of the jet before it crashed.

Turkey called this week for a U.N. Security Council meeting to discuss attacks on Turkmens in neighbouring Syria, and last week Ankara summoned the Russian ambassador to protest the bombing of their villages.

Ankara has traditionally expressed solidarity with Syrian Turkmens, who are Syrians of Turkish descent.

About 1,700 people have fled the mountainous Syrian area to the Turkish border as a result of fighting in the last three days, a Turkish official said on Monday.

Russian jets have bombed the area in support of ground operations by Syrian government forces.

Syrian insurgents reportedly blew up the chopper using US-supplied arms, killing one Russian soldier involved in the rescue mission.

The helicopter was searching for the two pilots from the Russian bomber downed by Turkey after it flew close to its border with Syria.

Video footage claims to show members of the Free Syrian Army, who are part-funded and trained by the US and Turkey, hitting the helicopter with a US-made TOW anti-tank missile.

The world’s nerves will be jangling at the claimed use of a US weapon directly against Russia.

The video shows a zoomed-in shot of the gun’s instructions, which are written in English.

World War III Trends on Twitter as Putin Decries Turkey’s ‘Stab in the Back’

“World War III” was trending on Twitter Tuesday as the world waited to see how Russia would respond to Turkey shooting down one of its warplanes.

Russian President Vladimir Putin slammed the incident as “stab in the back by terrorist helpers,” as NATO held what it described as an “extraordinary meeting” Tuesday afternoon just hours after the incident.

Russia denies its warplane was violating Turkish airspace, while Turkey — a NATO member — said it warned the aircraft 10 times before shooting it down.

Putin said Russia would “never tolerate such atrocities” and called for the international community to “fight this evil.”

“Do they want to have NATO serve ISIS? I understand that every state has regional interests, and we respect that, but we would never tolerate crime like today’s,” Putin added.

But despite the heated rhetoric — and fears on social media — outright war is unlikely, according to analysis from IHS Janes Terrorism and Insurgency Center.

“The immediate implication of the shooting down of the aircraft is likely to remain limited to a diplomatic crisis,” IHS Janes said. “However, future such incidents between Russia and Turkey are highly likely, as neither side is willing or able to back down.”

The diplomatic implications were already playing out in the immediate aftermath of the jet’s downing.

Russia’s foreign minister canceled a planned trip to Turkey scheduled for Wednesday, while Russia’s Ministry of Defense said Turkey’s defense attache in Moscow had been “urgently summoned” to receive an “official protest” over his nation’s actions.

“The Defense Ministry considers actions of the Turkish Air Force as an unfriendly act,” it said in a statement. “At present, the Russian Defense Ministry is designing a complex of measures directed to respond such incidents.”

However, Ian Shields, a professor of international relations at Anglia Ruskin University, told NBC News that Russia won’t want to overreact in case the U.S. and Europe increase economic pressure and sanctions.

“Those of us like me who are old enough to remember the Cold War are thinking ‘here we go again’,” he said. “Russia can lose on this, and can be hurt again if she overplays her hand and USA and Europe further increase economic pressure … we are far more economically interdependent than we were before.”
