Segment 1: Update TSA

Campaign for Liberty launchs a public relations campaign against President Obama’s TSA government interventionism:

“…Got questions about the TSA? This video’s got answers. Jam-packed with all the information you need to get up to speed on the 2010 holiday airport security uproar. Get the inside scoop on full body scanners, radiation health risks, pat-downs, screw-ups, underwear bombers, cavity searches, special interests, government officials, the Constitution (specifically, the 4th Amendment), scanner storage capability, and hear from some of the most engaged minds in the debate; including Congressman Ron Paul…”

Campaign for Liberty Mission Statement

“Our mission is to promote and defend the great American principles of individual liberty, constitutional government, sound money, free markets, and a noninterventionist foreign policy, by means of educational and political activity.”

http://www.campaignforliberty.com/about.php

http://www.youtube.com/user/campaignforliberty

One point that the video failed to address is the spread of disease by the TSA not changing their blue gloves after each pat down.

Imagine going to a doctor or dentist who wore the same blue gloves while examing many patients during the day.

An unintended consequence of the government grope will be the spread of the various influenza (flu) viruses.

The time has come to stop this security theater nonsense and start profiling passengers.

FBI Sting Foils Oregon Bomb Plot

“…The FBI successfully thwarted a terrorist bombing in Portland, Oregon after following the suspect for over a year. The would-be terrorist, 19-year-old Somali immigrant Mohamed Mohamud, parked a van loaded with an explosive device near a tree-lighting ceremony in downtown Portland. But the FBI had replaced his bomb with a dummy and arrested Mohamud as he tried to detonate it with a cell phone. “This defendant’s chilling determination is a stark reminder that there are people—even here in Oregon—who are determined to kill Americans,” Oregon’s U.S. attorney said. Mohamud is due to appear in court Monday and faces a life sentence, along with a $250,000 fine. An undercover FBI agent gave Mohamud a fake bomb as part of a sting operation that began in June 2010. FBI and police officials say that at no point was anyone in danger, but court documents reveal that Mohamud was eager to see everyone leave the ceremony “dead or injured.”

Oregon: FBI Thwarts Own Car Bomb

Posted: November 27th, 2010 by Militant Libertarian

by Tony Cartalucci, Activist Post

“…Perplexing is why the FBI, knowing Mr. Mohamud’s criminal intent, and upon delivering the bomb to the willing would-be terrorist, would allow him to approach a large public venue and attempt to detonate the device in public view. While the US Attorney’s Office maintains that “the public was never in danger,” they apparently didn’t read the news about a recent stampede in Cambodia that cost 450 panicked people their lives.

Maximum bloodless terrorism upon a public increasingly skeptical about the official narrative of the “War on Terror” comes to mind. This skepticism, of course, comes from the fact that the only groups that seem to be actually building bombs and conducting terrorist operations are within our own Western governments. This is reinforced byshocking revelations that Anwar Al-Awlaki dined at the Pentagon, months after 9/11 while listed as Al Qaeda’s #3. Al-Awlaki has since been linked to the the “Underwear Bomber,” the “Fort Hood Shooter,” the “Times Square Bomber,” and the “Shoe Bomber,” as well as the recent Yemeni parcel “bombs.”
Parallels between Portland’s staged terror stunt can be seen with a very similar FBI operation that went “wrong” on February 26, 1993 at New York City’s World Trade Center. The FBI was also in contact with willing terrorists whom they assisted in building an inert bomb. Inexplicably, the FBI agents switched the inert explosives with a real device which was then delivered to the WTC and detonated, killing 6 and injuring 1,042.
These revelations were made public after FBI informant, former Egyptian army officer Emad Salem, revealed recordings he made of his conversations with the FBI agents. He became suspicious of their motives and feared for his own safety upon realizing real explosives were being used. The recordings were published by the New York Times. …”

Oregon Resident Arrested in Plot to Bomb Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Portland
Vehicle Bomb Left at Scene Was Inert and Posed No Danger to Public

“…According to the affidavit, on November 4, 2010, Mohamud and the undercover FBI operatives traveled to a remote location in Lincoln County, Ore., where they detonated a bomb concealed in a backpack as a trial run for the upcoming attack. Afterwards, on the drive back to Corvallis, undercover FBI operatives questioned Mohamud as to whether he was capable of looking at the bodies of those who would be killed in the upcoming attack in Portland. According to the affidavit, Mohamud responded, “I want whoever is attending that event to leave, to leave either dead or injured.”
Upon returning to Corvallis that same day, the affidavit alleges that Mohamud recorded a video of himself with the undercover FBI operatives in which he read a written statement that offered a rationale for his bomb attack. On Nov. 18, 2010, undercover FBI operatives picked up Mohamud to travel to Portland in order to finalize the details of the attack.

Earlier this evening, Mohamud was arrested after he attempted to remotely detonate what he believed to be explosives in a van that was parked near the Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Portland, the affidavit alleges.

This case was investigated by the FBI, with assistance from the Oregon State Police, the Corvallis Police Department, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, and the Portland Police Bureau. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Ethan D. Knight and Jeffrey Sweet from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon. Trial Attorneys Jolie F. Zimmerman and David Cora, from the Counterterrorism Section of the Justice Department’s National Security Division, are assisting.

The charges and allegations contained in the criminal complaint are merely allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. …”

Secret US Embassy Cables

“…Wikileaks began on Sunday November 28th publishing 251,287 leaked United States embassy cables, the largest set of confidential documents ever to be released into the public domain. The documents will give people around the world an unprecedented insight into US Government foreign activities.

The cables, which date from 1966 up until the end of February this year, contain confidential communications between 274 embassies in countries throughout the world and the State Department in Washington DC. 15,652 of the cables are classified Secret.

The embassy cables will be released in stages over the next few months. The subject matter of these cables is of such importance, and the geographical spread so broad, that to do otherwise would not do this material justice.

The cables show the extent of US spying on its allies and the UN; turning a blind eye to corruption and human rights abuse in “client states”; backroom deals with supposedly neutral countries; lobbying for US corporations; and the measures US diplomats take to advance those who have access to them.

This document release reveals the contradictions between the US’s public persona and what it says behind closed doors – and shows that if citizens in a democracy want their governments to reflect their wishes, they should ask to see what’s going on behind the scenes.

Every American schoolchild is taught that George Washington – the country’s first President – could not tell a lie. If the administrations of his successors lived up to the same principle, today’s document flood would be a mere embarrassment. Instead, the US Government has been warning governments — even the most corrupt — around the world about the coming leaks and is bracing itself for the exposures.

The full set consists of 251,287 documents, comprising 261,276,536 words (seven times the size of “The Iraq War Logs”, the world’s previously largest classified information release).

The cables cover from 28th December 1966 to 28th February 2010 and originate from 274 embassies, consulates and diplomatic missions. …”

Collateral Murder – Wikileaks – Iraq

An Interview With WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange

Nov. 29 2010

By ANDY GREENBERG

“…Admire him or revile him, WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange is the prophet of a coming age of involuntary transparency, the leader of an organization devoted to divulging the world’s secrets using technology unimagined a generation ago. Over the last year his information insurgency has dumped 76,000 secret Afghan war documents and another trove of 392,000 files from the Iraq war into the public domain–the largest classified military security breaches in history. Sunday, WikiLeaks made the first of 250,000 classified U.S. State Department cables public, offering an unprecedented view of how America’s top diplomats view enemies and friends alike.

But, as Assange explained to me earlier this month, the Pentagon and State Department leaks are just the start. …”

Leadership Ethics and Corruption — EU Commission lecture

“…Weather Worries

Three factors indicate that corn prices are headed higher in the U.S. market – as well as in markets around the world. The reality is that:

  • The United States is the world’s largest grower and exporter of corn, and thanks to some wild weather swings U.S. corn production is down more than 4% from last year’s record crop.
  • Industrial uses of corn are contributing to escalations in demand, even during a supply squeeze. New food uses for corn will also help boost demand.
  • The weak U.S. dollar will make corn an even hotter export, further escalating demand during a period where supplies are tighter than usual.

A number of weather-based events have damaged the current or upcoming harvest of key crops in exporting nations worldwide.

In Brazil, for instance, it was a drought that may damage the 2011 coffee crops.

In Russia, an endless dry summer heat wilted the wheat crop.

In China, Pakistan and India, monsoon rains shrank the cotton crop.

And here in the United States, it appears that exceptionally wet weather in June and July and devastating heat throughout the summer may have damaged the corn crop. This has led to lower yields per acre this year compared to last year. …”

The Food Crisis Of 2011

Addison Wiggin

“…Fact is, the food crisis of 2008 never really went away.

True, food riots didn’t break out in poor countries during 2009 and warehouse stores like Costco didn’t ration 20-pound bags of rice…but supply remained tight.

Prices for basic foodstuffs like corn and wheat remain below their 2008 highs. But they’re a lot higher than they were before “the food crisis of 2008” took hold. Here’s what’s happened to some key farm commodities so far in 2010…

  • Corn: Up 63%
  • Wheat: Up 84%
  • Soybeans: Up 24%
  • Sugar: Up 55%

What was a slow and steady increase much of the year has gone into overdrive since late summer. Blame it on two factors…

  • Aug. 5: A failed wheat harvest prompted Russia to ban grain exports through the end of the year. Later in August, the ban was extended through the end of 2011. Drought has wrecked the harvest in Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan – home to a quarter of world production
  • Oct. 8: For a second month running, the Agriculture Department cut its forecast for US corn production. The USDA predicts a 3.4% decline from last year. Damage done by Midwestern floods in June was made worse by hot, dry weather in August.

America’s been blessed with year after year of “record harvests,” depending on how you measure it. So when crisis hits elsewhere in the world, the burden of keeping the world fed falls on America’s shoulders. …”

Packagers and Supermarkets Pressured to Pass Along Rising Costs, Even as Consumers Pinch Pennies

“…Food prices are rising faster than overall inflation. The consumer price index for all items minus food and energy rose 0.8% over the year to September, the lowest 12-month increase since March 1961, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said. The food index rose 1.4%, however. The U.S. Agricultural Department is predicting overall food inflation of about 2% to 3% next year.

The current pressure is nothing like it was in October 2008, when food prices were rising at an annual rate of 6.3% and some hard lessons were learned when producers passed along those costs: Shoppers switched to private-label products. …”

The Biofuels Scam

By James M. Andrews

“…Since 2007, the price of food around the world has just about doubled. Bad harvests, inflation, or George Bush didn’t cause this price increase. According to a secret report from the World Bank, reported in the U.K.’s Guardian, 75% of the increase in price has one source: “Biofuels.” This contrasts with U.S. claims of only a 3% biofuels-caused increase. The World Bank also says that rising food prices have pushed 100 million people worldwide below the poverty line. Riots have been sparked from Bangladesh to Egypt.

Where is the outrage? Where are the MSNBC stories on food riots? Where is Sean Penn?
The Holy Grail of the Left in recent years is climate disruption (formerly known as global warming and climate change). Much ink has been spilled, and much airtime has been devoted to pushing the Green Agenda. Legislation has been passed in the U.S., Europe, and other places to address this so-called crisis. Incandescent bulbs have been banned and mercury-laden CFLs required. Coal-fired power plants are shuttered, raising the price of energy. Vast oil fields are placed off limits. “Cap and Trade” rules threaten our already reeling economy. Among other measures, Congress mandates that gasoline contain 10% by volume of ethanol. As a result, the U.S. is currently burning about 25% of its corn crop as fuel. Government subsidies and mandates work quite well at converting food into fuel, thus reducing the amount of food. As anyone with more than a room temperature IQ knows, less of something results in higher prices. Hungry people? Psh! Saving the planet takes precedence.
Brazil is clearing (by burning) tens of thousands of acres of rainforest to plant sugarcane — not for human consumption, but for conversion to ethanol. Much more acreage has been cleared for sugarcane production than for lumber. As a CO2 “sink,” sugarcane is nonexistent compared to the trees it replaced. If CO2 were such a threat to the survival of the human race, wouldn’t keeping the rainforest be a good idea? Doesn’t burning millions of trees produce many thousands of tons of CO2? Clearly, common sense is missing from the “settled science” agenda of climate disruption. …”

Global food crisis forecast as prices reach record highs

Cost of meat, sugar, rice, wheat and maize soars as World Bank predicts five years of price volatility

“…Rising food prices and shortages could cause instability in many countries as the cost of staple foods and vegetables reached their highest levels in two years, with scientists predicting further widespread droughts and floods.Although food stocks are generally good despite much of this year’s harvests being wiped out in Pakistan and Russia, sugar and rice remain at a record price.

Global wheat and maize prices recently jumped nearly 30% in a few weeks while meat prices are at 20-year highs, according to the key Reuters-Jefferies commodity price indicator. Last week, the US predicted that global wheat harvests would be 30m tonnes lower than last year, a 5.5% fall. Meanwhile, the price of tomatoes in Egypt, garlic in China and bread in Pakistan are at near-record levels.

“The situation has deteriorated since September,” said Abdolreza Abbassian of the UN food and agriculture organisation. “In the last few weeks there have been signs we are heading the same way as in 2008.

“We may not get to the prices of 2008 but this time they could stay high much longer.” …”

“…The CPI chart on the home page reflects our estimate of inflation for today as if it were calculated the same way it was in 1990. The CPI on the Alternate Data Series tab here reflects the CPI as if it were calculated using the methodologies in place in 1980. In general terms, methodological shifts in government reporting have depressed reported inflation, moving the concept of the CPI away from being a measure of the cost of living needed to maintain a constant standard of living.

Further definition is provided in our CPI Glossary. Further background on the SGS-Alternate CPI series is available in the Archives in the August 2006 SGS newsletter. …”

Consumer Price Index - October 2010

The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased
0.2 percent in October on a seasonally adjusted basis, the U.S.
Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months,
the all items index increased 1.2 percent before seasonal adjustment.

As has frequently been the case in recent months, an increase in the
energy index was the major factor in the all items seasonally
adjusted increase. The gasoline index rose for the fourth month in a
 row and accounted for almost 90 percent of the all items increase;
the household energy index rose as well. The food index rose slightly
in October with the food at home index unchanged.

The index for all items less food and energy was unchanged in
October, the third month in a row with no change. The indexes for
shelter and medical care rose, but these increases were offset by
declines in an array of indexes including new vehicles, used cars and
 trucks, apparel, recreation, and tobacco.

Over the last 12 months, the index for all items less food and energy
has risen 0.6 percent, the smallest 12-month increase in the history
of the index, which dates to 1957. The energy index has risen 5.9
percent over that span with the gasoline index up 9.5 percent. The
food index has risen 1.4 percent, with both the food at home index
and food away from home index rising the same 1.4 percent.

Consumer Price Index Data for October 2010

 Food

The food index rose 0.1 percent in October after a 0.3 percent
increase in September. The index for food away from home rose 0.1
percent while the food at home index was unchanged. Among the six
major grocery store food groups that comprise the food at home index,
the index for dairy and related products posted the largest increase,
rising 1.1 percent. This was its fifth increase in the last six
months and its largest since January. The index for meats, poultry,
fish, and eggs also rose, increasing 0.6 percent as increases in the
indexes for beef, poultry, and pork offset a decline in the eggs
index. These increases offset declines in the remaining food at home
groups. The fruits and vegetables group posted the largest decline,
falling 0.7 percent, while the index for nonalcoholic beverages fell
0.5 percent. The indexes for cereals and bakery products and for
other food at home both fell 0.2 percent. Over the past year, the
indexes for cereals and bakery products and for nonalcoholic
beverages have declined, while the index for other food at home was
unchanged and the indexes for the remaining three groups have risen.

 Energy

The energy index rose 2.6 percent in October, its fourth consecutive
monthly increase. The gasoline index rose 4.6 percent in October
after rising 1.6 percent in September. (Before seasonal adjustment,
gasoline prices rose 3.3 percent in October.) The household energy
index, which declined in September, rose in October, increasing 0.4
percent. The natural gas index fell 0.4 percent, but this decline was
more than offset by a 0.4 percent increase in the electricity index
and a 4.7 percent rise in the index for fuel oil. The indexes of all
the major energy components have risen over the last 12 months.

All items less food and energy

The index for all items less food and energy was unchanged in October
for the third month in a row. After being unchanged the previous two
months, the shelter index rose 0.1 percent in October. The indexes
for rent and owners' equivalent rent both increased 0.1 percent while
the index for lodging away from home declined 1.0 percent. The
medical care index, which rose 0.6 percent in September, rose 0.1
percent in October, with the medical care commodities index rising
0.1 percent and the index for medical care services increasing 0.2
percent. Within the medical care services component, the index for
physicians' services fell 0.1 percent but the hospital services index
increased 0.7 percent. Offsetting these increases were declines in
several indexes. The index for used cars and trucks fell 0.9 percent
in October, its second straight decline after a long series of
increases. The index for new vehicles fell as well, declining 0.2
percent. The apparel index fell 0.3 percent in October, its third
straight decline. The recreation index fell for the fourth month in a
row, decreasing 0.1 percent, and the index for tobacco fell for the
first time since February, declining 0.3 percent.

The index for all items less food and energy increased 0.6 percent
over the last 12 months. Several transportation indexes have
increased; the index for used cars and trucks has risen 8.6 percent,
while the new vehicles index has edged up 0.4 percent and the index
for airline fares has risen 4.4 percent. The medical care index has
also increased, rising 3.4 percent. Indexes that have declined over
the past year include shelter, which has fallen 0.3 percent,
household furnishings and operations (down 2.5 percent), apparel
(down 1.2 percent), and recreation (down 1.0 percent).

 Not seasonally adjusted CPI measures

The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased
1.2 percent over the last 12 months to an index level of 218.711
(1982-84=100). For the month, the index rose 0.1 percent prior to
 seasonal adjustment.

The Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers
(CPI-W) increased 1.5 percent over the last 12 months to an index
level of 214.623 (1982-84=100). For the month, the index rose 0.1
 percent prior to seasonal adjustment.

The Chained Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (C-CPI-U)
increased 1.0 percent over the last 12 months. For the month, the
index rose 0.2 percent on a not seasonally adjusted basis. Please
note that the indexes for the post-2008 period are subject to
 revision.

The Consumer Price Index for November 2010 is scheduled to be
released on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at 8:30 a.m. (EST).

I am an independent and my political philosophy is classical liberal or libertarian.

I want limited government and the FairTax.

I support and will vote for candidates for office who also want the FairTax to replace the existing Federal taxation system.

A growing number of Americans including Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Libertarians, Tea Party Patriots and others want the FairTax.

Mike Gravel – On Fair Tax

Ron Paul on Taxes

The Fair Tax

Neal Boortz Explain the FAIRTAX

The FairTax is a national retail consumption tax that replaces most if not all Federal taxes and sends a prebate each month to every American to cover the taxes for the basic necessities of life.

The FairTax would replace existing Federal taxes including personal income taxes, payroll taxes, Social Security taxes, Medicare taxes, capital gains taxes, alternative minimum taxes, corporate taxes, estate taxes and gift taxes with one national retail sales consumption tax on the purchase of new goods and services–the FairTax.

The FairTax: It’s Time

The FairTax

www.fairtax.org

The Democratic Party has launched a last minute dirty tricks attack ad campaign, both onair (radio and television) and online (YouTube and paid ads on blogs including this one), to say that various Republican candidates that support tax reform and the FairTax want an additional 23% national sales taxes.

This is a lie and the Democratic Party and their desperate candidates know it.

Here are just a few examples that appeared on YouTube:

John Boozman: Excited About National Sales Tax

We Can’t Afford Millionaire Tim Burns and his 23% National Sales Tax

Sydney Hay: A New 23% Sales Tax (AZ-01)

Dan Benishek’s Bad Idea – 23% Tax on Nearly Everything You Buy

Mark McBride supports a 23% sales tax for Myrtle Beach

Andy Harris Doesn’t Have a Clue

Republican candidates who support the FairTax want to replace all Federal taxes with a broad-based consumption or retail sales tax on the purchase of new goods and services.

Yes, the rate would be 23%.

However, you would not be paying any of the above taxes and would be receiving a monthly prebate to pay the taxes on basic necessitates.

This means there would be no deductions from you payroll check for any Federal taxes.

Your gross pay would be the amount on your paycheck–there would be no Federal deductions.

Please visit the FairTax.org site for more information and a detailed response to the lies and distortions in the Democratic Party’s attack ads on the radio, television and in YouTube videos clips, web sites and blogs:

About The FairTax

http://www.fairtax.org/site/PageServer?pagename=about_fairtax_four#regressive

The American people are not stupid.

The American people are paying attention.

The American people know that the Democratic Party supported and passed in the House of Representatives the Cap and Trade bill that would have been the largest tax increase in American history had it been enacted into law.

The American people know that the Democratic Party wants an additional new tax, the Value Added Tax, if the Cap and Trade Energy Tax did not pass.

The American people know the Democratic Party wants to let the Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 lapse at the end of 2010.

The American people know the Democratic Party wants all these new taxes to expand the size and scope of the Federal Government.

The American people know the Democratic Party wants to force you to buy a healthcare insurance plan or you must pay a tax fine or penalty.

The American people know the Democratic Party will never cut Federal Government spending, budget deficits, entitlements or the national debts.

The American people know the Democratic Party wants more spending, more deficits, more debts, and more taxes.

The important point to remember is the FairTax would replace all these other Federal taxes and would not be an additional tax on top of these existing taxes.

The FairTax provides a prebate or check to every American to pay for the taxes on basic necessities such as food and clothing.

Under the FairTax most Americans will pay less taxes than under the existing Federal tax system.

The Democratic Party is lying to the American people by not disclosing that the 23% sales tax would replace the current complicated Federal income, payroll, estate and gift taxation system.

The FairTax would also spur economic growth and create jobs.

Do not be fooled by the Democratic Party’s last-minute attack ad campaign to scare you and your family.

Do not vote for candidates, Democrats or Republicans, that would lie to you about taxes and spending.

When people lie to me, I do not trust them.

I do not do business with them and I certainly do not vote for them for public office.

The Democratic Party and those Democratic candidates who are using the FairTax’s 23% tax rate to attack their opponents have made a huge mistake.

The FairTax attack ads will incense and energize the political base of those in favor of tax reform that include Democrats, Republicans, Independents, libertarians, conservatives and the Tea Party Patriots.

After cutting Federal Government spending and repealing Obamacare, the reform of the Federal tax system and its replacement with either a flat income tax or the FairTax is very high priority of movement conservatives and libertarians.

By simply telling the truth, those who have been attacked in these ads will show that their Democratic opponents are both liars and hypocrites.

This does, however, require funds or campaign contributions to run the ads replying to attacks on radio and television.

Time for the Republican Party to step up to the plate and support the FairTax.

Will they do so?

Not likely.

Unfortunately they will not for the simple reason the Republican establishment supports the existing Federal income taxation system to attract campaign contributions from special interests that want changes in the tax code and regulations.

The major change the Republicans would support is a flat tax with one or two brackets.

Both the Democratic and Republican establishments fear the FairTax.

The American people need to support candidates who fully support the FairTax.

Please pass this information on to all FairTax supporters and your friends and neighbors.

More Boortz: When Democrats Attack the FairTax!

“…Here’s the cherry on the FairTax sundae. When the FairTax plan was being developed it was thought, and people in focus groups confirmed, that nobody should ever have to pay a penny of their earnings to government until they had first taken care of the needs of their family. What is the moral justification for allowing the government to seize a portion of your earnings before you’ve taken care of your family’s needs for the basic necessities of life? The designers of the FairTax were determined to find a solution to this problem, and came up with the “prebate.”

The government publishes Federal Poverty Guidelines every year. These figures are supposed to represent the amount that families of varying sizes would have to spend every year to meet their basic needs. The FairTax plan calls for every head of household in the country – legally in the country – to get a “prebate” at the beginning of each month equal to the amount of the FairTax that person will pay during the following month while purchasing those basic necessities. That poverty level for a family of four is $22,050. This equals $1,837.50 per month in spending, of which $423 would be FairTax. At the beginning of each month this head of household would receive a credit to his checking account, debit card or credit card in the amount of $423. This means that no citizen or legal resident of this country would ever pay one penny in tax to the federal government before his or her family needs were met. The prebate is what caused a focus group participant to blurt out “Well, that’s a fair tax!” Hence the name.

Are there downsides to the FairTax? Yes, as a matter of fact — one huge downside, if, that is, you’re a member of the political class. The FairTax would be the most massive transfer of power from government to the people since this country was founded. Politicians have this strange aversion to giving up power. Another problem is that, as Democrats are now illustrating, the FairTax is very easy to demagogue. If honesty isn’t your forte you can tell people that your opponent wants to add a 23 percent sales tax to everything you buy without including the pesky little details. As Politifac.com says: “Our bigger issue with the Lincoln ad – and a number of similar ads being run against Republicans who have had nice things to say about the “Fair Tax” – is that it highlights support for a 23 percent national sales tax but fails to mention that it would replace federal income taxes. No matter what you think of the plan, that’s a very deceptive omission.”

When you condense over 100,000 words from two books into one column of around 2000 words, much must remain unsaid. There’s the economic and jobs growth that would result from a system wherein people could do business without any tax component on capital and labor. There’s the $300 to $500 billion in annual tax compliance costs that would be eliminated. That’s just for starters.

If you want more information perhaps the two books mentioned at the beginning of this column might be a good place to start. There’s also a great deal of information at http://www.fairtax.org.

The midterms are approaching. Take some time to look behind the ads. …”

EXCLUSIVE: TSA Unveils New Genital Visualizers

If you are planning to fly this Thanksgiving or Christmas holiday to visit family and friends, you might want to seriously consider driving or taking a bus instead of flying or just stay home.

The American people’s rights under the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution “to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures…” is being challenged by the Transportation Security Administration or TSA.

When you go to through airport security you must first pass through a metal detector than a full body radiation scan.

If you elect not to have the full body radiation scan, you are called a opt outer and subject to a perverted pat down of your entire body including genitals and breast by government groppers of the TSA.

Woman, children, and the disabled in wheel chairs may have to go through both the full naked body radiation scan and perverted pat down.

You choices are as follows

TSA: No pressure. Your Choice.

  1. Full naked body radiation scan
  2. Perverted pat downs
  3. Interrogation and possible detention, arrest and lawsuit
  4. Leave airport and drive to destination
  5. Just stay home

More and more Americans are electing to just stay home and save the time, money and invasion of their bodies and property and the legal molestation of their children by Federal Government Employees.

The American people should respond to the use of full naked body radiation scans and perverted pat downs by simply not traveling on commercial airlines.

The commercial airlines and not Government should be responsible for security and safety on an airline flight.

When the airlines and the travel industry experience significant drops in their revenues and profits, they will insist the full naked body scans and pat downs not be used and current TSA employees become employees of the airline and not the government.

Time for Congress to revisit the whole subject of TSA, government unions, and unreasonable searches and seizures.

Metal detectors and thermal detectors are fine:

Feds admit storing checkpoint body scan images

by Declan McCullagh

“…For the last few years, federal agencies have defended body scanning by insisting that all images will be discarded as soon as they’re viewed. The Transportation Security Administration claimed last summer, for instance, that “scanned images cannot be stored or recorded.” Now it turns out that some police agencies are storing the controversial images after all. The U.S. Marshals Service admitted this week that it had surreptitiously saved tens of thousands of images recorded with a millimeter wave system at the security checkpoint of a single Florida courthouse. This follows an earlier disclosure (PDF) by the TSA that it requires all airport body scanners it purchases to be able to store and transmit images for “testing, training, and evaluation purposes.” The agency says, however, that those capabilities are not normally activated when the devices are installed at airports. Body scanners penetrate clothing to provide a highly detailed image so accurate that critics have likened it to a virtual strip search. Technologies vary, with millimeter wave systems capturing fuzzier images, and backscatter X-ray machines able to show precise anatomical detail. The U.S. government likes the idea because body scanners can detect concealed weapons better than traditional magnetometers. This privacy debate, which has been simmering since the days of the Bush administration, came to a boil two weeks ago when Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced that scanners would soon appear at virtually every major airport. The updated list includes airports in New York City, Dallas, Washington, Miami, San Francisco, Seattle, and Philadelphia. …” Read more: http://news.cnet.com/8301-31921_3-20012583-281.html#ixzz14ztWIFHJ

Pilots and passengers rail at new airport patdowns

By Jeremy Pelofsky

“…Executives from the travel industry, including online travel sites, theme parks and hotels, were set to meet Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Pistole on Friday to discuss their concerns that security is crimping travel. “We have received hundreds of e-mails and phone calls from travelers vowing to stop flying,” said Geoff Freeman, an executive vice president of the U.S. Travel Association, which set up the meeting with the Obama administration officials. “You can’t talk on the one hand about creating jobs in this country and getting this economy back on track and on the other hand discourage millions of Americans from flying, which is the gateway to commerce,” he said. Privacy groups have challenged the new body scanners in court, saying they are a violation of privacy and illegal. Lawmakers plan to hold hearings on aviation security next week when they return to Washington. Some travelers are also livid about how children are being screened. During a trip last Sunday by a father and son through Orlando airport in Florida, the 8-year-old boy was selected for extra screening by TSA after going through the metal detector. The father said the officer described the procedure before conducting it. Then he patted down the boy in the open security area, using the backside of his hands to check his genital area, he said. “I didn’t think it was going to be as horrible as he was describing,” said the boy’s father, Bill, who works as a lobbyist in Washington and did not want his full name used. …” http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6AA55S20101111?ref=nf

U.S. Marshals Service Storing Naked Body Scanner Images

Kurt Nimmo “…Now it turns out police agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service, are storing naked body scanner images too. In response, the advocacy group Electronic Privacy Information Center has filed a lawsuit asking a federal judge to grant an immediate injunction and putting a kibosh to the intrusive and unconstitutional snoop program. Fresh food that lasts from eFoods Direct Despite the revelation, the TSA steadfastly maintains that naked body scanners are delivered to airports with the image recording functions disabled. “We’re not recording them,” TSA spokeswoman Sari Koshetz told CNET on Wednesday. “I’m reiterating that to the public. We are not ever activating those capabilities at the airport.” Let’s get serious here. Naked body scanners are obviously being used to compliment existing dossiers on Americans. The NSA, FBI, CIA, and multitudinous government agencies have long profiled all aspects of the lives of American citizens. Images captured by naked body scanners, including images of genitals, are merely the next logical step in this process. …”

Ostensibly, your decision to travel by airline implies your choice to abandon your rights to privacy in order to serve the cause of collective security. If you don’t like it, just travel by car or bus instead — but don’t venture within one hundred miles of the border or the coast, or you may be subject to warrantless search without probable cause by other TSA agents with the Border Patrol or the Immigration and Customs Enforcement divisions.
The newly infamous body scanners are of two types. Millimeter wave scanners generate high-frequency photons, in the “terahertz” radiation band from 30 to 300 gigahertz frequency, that are able to penetrate clothing to strike the body — but penetrating much less than x-rays, that have a higher frequency and energy levels.
Backscatter scanners generate low-energy x-rays, which readily penetrate clothing, while some portion are reflected (backscattered) from the surface of the skin, detected, and used by the scanner to generate the detailed image. X-rays are ionizing radiation and are judged to have no minimum safe threshold exposure. Exposure is cumulative over one’s lifetime. This has potential implications for frequent fliers and flight personnel, who also accumulate increased lifetime exposure from cosmic ray exposures at altitude.
Consequently, serious concerns have been raised regarding unrecognized radiation effects of the body scanners. Exposure to high-energy photons of terahertz frequencies may be damaging to the

Fall Of The Republic 6/14: The Presidency Of Barack H Obama

On October 15, 2010 Chairman of the Federal Reserve, Ben Bernanke, presented a speech entitled Monetary Policy Objectives and Tools in a Low-Inflation Environment at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston’s Conference on Revisiting Monetary Policy in a Low-Inflation Environment.

This speech pointed out that the Federal Opening Market Committee (FOMC) was about to embark on the purchase of Treasury securities with the objectives of reducing the continuing high unemployment rate and maintaining price stability.

Bernanke said:

“…the Federal Reserve remains committed to pursuing policies that promote our duel objectives of maximum employment and price stability. In particular, the FOMC is prepared to provide additional accommodation if needed to support the economic recovery and to return inflation over time to levels consistent with our mandate. Of course, in considering possible further actions, the FOMC will take account of the potential costs and risks of nonconventional policies, and, as always, the Committee’s actions are contingent on incoming information about the economic outlook and financial conditions.”

On November 3, 2010, the Federal Reserve provided more details as the amount and duration its unconventional monetary policy that is commonly called money printing or “quantitative easing”.

The Federal Reserve stated in a press release that:

“…To promote a stronger pace of economic recovery and to help ensure that inflation, over time, is at levels consistent with its mandate, the Committee decided today to expand its holdings of securities. The Committee will maintain its existing policy of reinvesting principal payments from its securities holdings. In addition, the Committee intends to purchase a further $600 billion of longer-term Treasury securities by the end of the second quarter of 2011, a pace of about $75 billion per month. The Committee will regularly review the pace of its securities purchases and the overall size of the asset-purchase program in light of incoming information and will adjust the program as needed to best foster maximum employment and price stability. …”

The Federal Reserve’s cover story is simply not being bought by many economists and investment analysts that follow closely the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy.

The United States government has been running massive budgetary deficits of over $1,000 billion for the past two years that will continue into Fiscal Year 2011 and 2012 and over $900 billion in 2013

There is a strong suspicion that the United States Treasury is having increasing trouble selling it securities at Treasury bond and note auctions.

Rather than the Obama Administration going to Congress for another stimulus package that would not be approved by the new Republican House majority, the U.S. Treasury Department could simply issue more Treasury bonds and notes to finance the budgetary deficits.

The Federal Reserve’s unconventional monetary policy better known as quantitative easing 2 would mean the Federal Reserve is an investor of last resort for Treasury bonds and notes when there is a shortage of other investors at the auctions.

The Federal Reserve will buy Treasuries not directly from the Treasury but from a third-party government security dealer or from a foreign country central bank who will act as a middle man or go between to get around the prohibition of the Federal Reserve buying Treasury securities directly from the Treasury Department.

The Federal Reserve would be monetizing Treasury debt by “printing money” in exchange of Treasury bonds and notes.

The economic effect is the decline in the purchasing power or value of the U.S. dollar.

This is a hidden tax on all Americans holding U.S. dollars.

The purchasing power of their dollar currency holdings will buy less goods and service especially imports.

The prices of all goods and services would rise–inflation.

Once this becomes apparent, the Federal Reserve’s dangerous unconventional monetary policy would have to be terminated and the Fed would have to revert back to a conventional tight monetary policy exit strategy to stop inflation by rising both the Federal Funds rate target and the sale of Treasury securities.

December 23, 2013 marks the 100 anniversary of the Federal Reserve.

By then I full expect that $1 in 1913 will be worth less than 1 cent.

The Federal Reserve System has been an abject failure in maintaining the price stability of the dollar.

The time has arrived for Congress to stop the Federal Reserve bank cartel from stealing from the American people by devaluing the U.S. dollar.

What needs to done to create jobs and ensure price stability?

First, cut Federal spending.

Second, balance the budget!

Third, close permanently entire Federal Departments.

Fourth, end the Fed.

Do none of the above and the American people will throw both Democrats and Republicans out of office in 2012, 2014 and 2016.

Dr. Ron Paul says Rand and I will introduce legislation to End the Fed! First day!

Press Release

Federal Reserve Press Release

Release Date: November 3, 2010

For immediate release

Information received since the Federal Open Market Committee met in September confirms that the pace of recovery in output and employment continues to be slow. Household spending is increasing gradually, but remains constrained by high unemployment, modest income growth, lower housing wealth, and tight credit. Business spending on equipment and software is rising, though less rapidly than earlier in the year, while investment in nonresidential structures continues to be weak. Employers remain reluctant to add to payrolls. Housing starts continue to be depressed. Longer-term inflation expectations have remained stable, but measures of underlying inflation have trended lower in recent quarters.

Consistent with its statutory mandate, the Committee seeks to foster maximum employment and price stability. Currently, the unemployment rate is elevated, and measures of underlying inflation are somewhat low, relative to levels that the Committee judges to be consistent, over the longer run, with its dual mandate. Although the Committee anticipates a gradual return to higher levels of resource utilization in a context of price stability, progress toward its objectives has been disappointingly slow.

To promote a stronger pace of economic recovery and to help ensure that inflation, over time, is at levels consistent with its mandate, the Committee decided today to expand its holdings of securities.

The Committee will maintain the target range for the federal funds rate at 0 to 1/4 percent and continues to anticipate that economic conditions, including low rates of resource utilization, subdued inflation trends, and stable inflation expectations, are likely to warrant exceptionally low levels for the federal funds rate for an extended period.

The Committee will continue to monitor the economic outlook and financial developments and will employ its policy tools as necessary to support the economic recovery and to help ensure that inflation, over time, is at levels consistent with its mandate.

Voting for the FOMC monetary policy action were: Ben S. Bernanke, Chairman; William C. Dudley, Vice Chairman; James Bullard; Elizabeth A. Duke; Sandra Pianalto; Sarah Bloom Raskin; Eric S. Rosengren; Daniel K. Tarullo; Kevin M. Warsh; and Janet L. Yellen.

Voting against the policy was Thomas M. Hoenig. Mr. Hoenig believed the risks of additional securities purchases outweighed the benefits. Mr. Hoenig also was concerned that this continued high level of monetary accommodation increased the risks of future financial imbalances and, over time, would cause an increase in long-term inflation expectations that could destabilize the economy.

Volcker: Fed Plan an Illusion, Won’t Boost Economy

“…”The thought that you can create a prosperous economy by inflating is an illusion, in my judgment,” he told reporters after his speech. “And we should never forget that. I thought we’d learned that lesson and I hope we continue to learn that lesson.”

The Fed faces a dilemma in balancing the aim of boosting the economy now while avoiding fears of a future jump in inflation due to the monetary stimulus, said Volcker, who as central bank chairman hiked interest rates aggressively to tame inflation.

“The influence of this kind of action on longer term interest rates, in particular, is ambiguous because the immediate impact of buying bonds ought to be to drive bond prices up and interest rates down,” he said. “But if people get concerned about longer run inflationary impacts, the effects go in the other direction.”

In theory, the Fed’s action is expected to lower interest rates because bond prices and interest rates – also known as yields – move in opposite directions. The yield is the fixed amount of annual interest paid to the owner of the bond expressed as a percentage of the bond price, so the extra demand created by the Fed’s purchases should push bond prices up and lower the yield.

But when investors fear inflation will be higher in the future they demand that bonds pay a higher interest rate to protect their investment from the value-eroding effects of inflation. …”

U.S. Treasury to Sell $72 Billion in Long-Term Debt

By Rebecca Christie – // Nov 3, 2010

“…The Treasury has been scaling back auction sizes, after expanding debt sales to finance annual budget deficits exceeding $1 trillion for the past two years. Bond dealers predict deficits of $1.214 trillion in fiscal 2011, $1.023 trillion in 2012 and $906 billion in 2013, according to a survey provided to the Treasury before this week’s announcements. …”

“…The question arose whether the Fed and the Treasury were working at cross-purposes,” the minutes said. One member said that “from an economic perspective, the Fed’s purchase of longer-dated coupons via increasing reserves was economically equivalent to Treasury reducing longer-dated coupons and issuing more bills.”

In a presentation to the Treasury, one of the committee members said that Fed easing “would force Treasury yields lower and would likely lead the curve to flatten in the five- to 10- year sector” over the next one to two years. The presenter said 30-year interest rates would likely command a higher risk premium because of concerns about inflation and the value of the U.S. dollar. …”

Monetizing Debt

http://research.stlouisfed.org/publications/es/10/ES1014.pdf

The Shell Game – How the Federal Reserve is Monetizing Debt

“…Executive Summary

  • The Federal Reserve and the federal government are attempting to “plug the gap” caused by a slowdown of private credit/debt creation.
  • Non-US demand for the dollar must remain high, or the dollar will fall.
  • Demand for US assets is in negative territory for 2009
  • The TIC report and Federal Reserve Custody Account are reviewed and compared
  • The Federal Reserve has effectively been monetizing US government debt by cleverly enabling foreign central banks to swap their Agency debt for Treasury debt.
  • The shell game that the Fed is currently playing obscures the fact that money is being printed out of thin air and used to buy US government debt.

The Federal Reserve is monetizing US Treasury debt and is doing so openly, both through its $300 billion commitment to buy Treasuries and by engaging in a sleight of hand maneuver that would make a street hustler from Brooklyn blush. …”

The tea party movement is expecting the Republican Party to balance the Fiscal Year 2011 and 2012 budgets or face the consequences or fate in 2012 of the big spending Democrats in this past election.

Instead the Republican Party is talking about a Fiscal Year 2008 level of total outlays of about $3 trillion dollars.

This is definitely an improvement over President Obama’s estimated budget deficits exceeding over $1,000 billion in FY 2010 and FY 2011.

However, it still would not come close to balancing the budget in FY 2011 where tax revenues are expected to be about $2,567 billion.

Unfortunately the deficit would be about $400 billion for the total combined on-budget and off-budget.

Refer to the following receipts and outlay estimates at:

Table 1.1—SUMMARY OF RECEIPTS, OUTLAYS, AND SURPLUSES OR DEFICITS (−): 1789–2015

http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/Historicals/

The total estimated tax revenues for FY 2011 and FY 2012 are $2,567 billion and $2,926 billion respectively for the combined on-budget and off-budget.

The total estimated outlays for FY 2011 and FY 2012 are $3,834 billion and $3,755 billion respectively for the combined on-budget and off-budget.

The total estimated deficits for FY 2011 and FY 2012 are $1,267 billion and $828 billion respectively for combined on-budget and off-budget.

To balance the combined on-budget and off-budget the FY 2011 outlays would need to about the level of Fiscal Year 2005 of $2,472 billion.

To balance the combined on-budget and off-budget the FY 2012 outlays would need to about the level of Fiscal Year 2008 of $2,983 billion.

Either balance the budget or face the consequences in 2012.

Stop dithering.

Start shutting down entire Federal Departments, agencies and programs.

Milton Friedman on Libertarianism (Part 4 of 4)

Pass the FairTax and limit future outlays or expenditures for the total on-budget and off-budget to 80% of previous year’s tax revenue from the FairTax.

The FairTax: It’s Time

The remaining 20% of FairTax revenues would go to pay down the debt.

Time for some real change and hope.

Stop spending our future and balance the budget.

Why You’ve Never Heard of the Great Depression of 1920 | Thomas E. Woods, Jr.

Warren Harding and the Forgotten Depression of 1920

by Thomas E. Woods, Jr.

“…The economic situation in 1920 was grim. By that year unemployment had jumped from 4 percent to nearly 12 percent, and GNP declined 17 percent. No wonder, then, that Secretary of Commerce Herbert Hoover – falsely characterized as a supporter of laissez-faire economics – urged President Harding to consider an array of interventions to turn the economy around. Hoover was ignored.

Instead of “fiscal stimulus,” Harding cut the government’s budget nearly in half between 1920 and 1922. The rest of Harding’s approach was equally laissez-faire. Tax rates were slashed for all income groups. The national debt was reduced by one-third. The Federal Reserve’s activity, moreover, was hardly noticeable. As one economic historian puts it, “Despite the severity of the contraction, the Fed did not move to use its powers to turn the money supply around and fight the contraction.”2 By the late summer of 1921, signs of recovery were already visible. The following year, unemployment was back down to 6.7 percent and was only 2.4 percent by 1923.

It is instructive to compare the American response in this period to that of Japan. In 1920, the Japanese government introduced the fundamentals of a planned economy, with the aim of keeping prices artificially high. According to economist Benjamin Anderson, “The great banks, the concentrated industries, and the government got together, destroyed the freedom of the markets, arrested the decline in commodity prices, and held the Japanese price level high above the receding world level for seven years. During these years Japan endured chronic industrial stagnation and at the end, in 1927, she had a banking crisis of such severity that many great branch bank systems went down, as well as many industries. It was a stupid policy. In the effort to avert losses on inventory representing one year’s production, Japan lost seven years.”3

The U.S., by contrast, allowed its economy to readjust. “In 1920–21,” writes Anderson, “we took our losses, we readjusted our financial structure, we endured our depression, and in August 1921 we started up again. . . . The rally in business production and employment that started in August 1921 was soundly based on a drastic cleaning up of credit weakness, a drastic reduction in the costs of production, and on the free play of private enterprise. It was not based on governmental policy designed to make business good.” The federal government did not do what Keynesian economists ever since have urged it to do: run unbalanced budgets and prime the pump through increased expenditures. Rather, there prevailed the old-fashioned view that government should keep spending and taxation low and reduce the public debt.4 …”

High Taxes and High Budget Deficits
The Hoover–Roosevelt Tax Increases of the 1930s
by Veronique de Rugy, Fiscal Policy Analyst, Cato Institute

“…Conclusion
The tax increases of the 1930s coincided with large
deficits and economic stagnation. While the monetary and
trade policy mistakes of the 1930s are now widely
understood, the tax policy mistakes are less appreciated.
As Congress grapples with today’s budget deficit and
mediocre economic growth, it should look to the tax cuts
of the 1920s for inspiration rather than the failed “budget
balancing with high taxes” approach of the 1930s.”

The Tea Party Movement Effect

The Tea Party Tidal Wave Falling and Rising

The tea party movement supported many candidates for public office in the 2010 elections.

Some lost and some won.

One candidate for public office had a record of failure if you believed the press and lost several races for public office in the past.

The person lost his job.

The person failed in business.

The person lost a state representative race.

The person had a nervous breakdown.

The person lost a state house speaker race.

The person lost a U.S. Senate race.

The person lost the nomination to be U.S. Vice President.

The person lost again a U.S. Senate race.

The person finally ran for President of the United States.

The person won.

The person was Abraham Lincoln, one of America’s most respected Presidents was the first Republican President of the United States.

One tea party supported candidate who lost for a second time a U.S. Senate race was Christine O’Donnell of Delaware.

Tea Party Favorite Christine O’Donnell

O’Donnell’s Internal Opposition

Delaware is a very liberal state where union endorsements and support play a big role in determining who wins a state-wide election.

Delaware’s Senator for 36 years had been Joe Biden, the current Vice-President of the United States.

Christine O’Donnell lost the U.S. Senate race in 2008 against Senator Biden who was running for both Senator and Vice-President of the United States.

Christine O’Donnell lost again the U.S. Senate race in 2010.

Then they beat back Democrats’ efforts to paint them as too extreme, winning comfortably on Tuesday. • 1834 – Elected to Illinois State Legislature (success)
